Serves as a primary specialized business development officer focusing on origination and submission of SBA Loan Requests. Serves as an expert in SBA financial programs created to address the various needs of small businesses. Responsible for educating and influencing SunTrust's Business Banking Relationship Managers (RMs) to produce additional SBA business to meet client needs through one or more of the government SBA program.
Acquire new relationships by targeting clients with annual sales of $1MM to $5MM who also have a need for SBA lending. Structures SBA loan proposals, completes initial underwriting and prepares credit package. Responsible for mentoring/coaching/training assigned RMs in SBA sales life cycle - including lead generation and sourcing, loan policies and structure, product knowledge and financial analysis. Serves as subject matter expert on inherent risk of SBA loans and appropriate governance and oversight to ensure all government backed guarantees will be honored as requested. Calls on and develops a referral network with commercial real estate brokers, business brokers, business/professional associates, accountants, lawyers, etc. to solicit SBA loan opportunities.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience consisting of 4 years of lending or sales experience to include 2 years of SBA lending experience, with demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals.
