The Audit Manager is a motivated leader responsible for planning, coordinating and executing audit projects primarily related to the Wholesale Line of Business (Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Corporate & Investment Banking and Treasury and Payment Solutions) as an auditor in charge or core team member.  This opportunity will build and strengthen direct relationships with business and audit executives in order to update periodic risk assessment, identify audit opportunities, define appropriate audit scopes, and execute audit delivery.
Key responsibilities include planning for primarily operational related reviews/audits which are coordinated with the Line of Business Management, Risk Management and with others within Internal Audit.  Audits will be performed in a team-based environment.  Candidate will interview business process owners, conduct risk assessments, identify controls in place to mitigate identified risks, develop and execute audit procedures, identify control gaps and opportunities for improvement, and conclude on the design and effectiveness of the control environment.   Audit results must be documented in accordance with SunTrust Audit Services and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
The candidate will lead the audit engagement team, and may serve as the quality reviewer or project manager for multiple engagements at the same time. 
This role involves responsibility for the overall quality of audit work performed and development of project and testing plans that effectively incorporate appropriate risks, scope, staffing requirements, deliverables, timelines, and client availability.  Delivering timely audit results to business management through concise verbal and written communications.  The candidate‚Äôs audit work will support issues and recommendations for improving the control design and effectiveness at SunTrust.
Responsibilities include continuously maintaining the risk assessment process for the Wholesale auditable units.  This requires the ability to stay abreast of applicable laws and regulations, understand relevant industry trends and events, review management reporting, and build relationships with management. 
Assist in the design and execution of technology-enabled, continuous risk monitoring and auditing solutions, in support of annual audit planning activities.
Provide audit process and business knowledge leadership to auditors and interns to enhance a top performing team.
A strong candidate for this role will be a self-starter with a strong desire to learn quickly in a fast paced dynamic environment.

Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 6 - 10 years of relevant audit experience with a professional certification for at least one of the following: CPA, CIA, CISA
  • Experience supervising and reviewing work for audit team members.
  • Experience coaching and developing professional skills of audit team members.
  • Leading departmental responsibilities, such as team training and oversight of audit issue resolution.
  • Leading relevant complex, integrated audits, and other audit projects/initiatives.
  • Leveraging continuous auditing or data analytics in engagements considering risk monitoring opportunities.
  • Experience and competency in audit principles, practices, and methodologies, including:  Objectivity and independence, risk and control assessment, and risk-based auditing project management.  Effective application of audit skills to new or previously unaudited business areas.
  • Knowledge of banking/financial business operations and risk-based auditing attained through progressive work experience.
  • Experience and competency in client relationship management methodology and practices.
  • Ability to manage projects and supervise auditors to follow sound internal control practices and to manage risks appropriately. Be adaptable and able to meet deadlines on assignments, juggle multiple demands and to work with all types of individuals up to and including Executive Management.
  • Strong skills in negotiating, relationship building, problem solving, and timely problem escalation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, time management, organizational skills and must be detailed orientated but able to quickly grasp the big picture.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in risk management, accounting or finance with audit focus.
  • CPA, CIA, CBA, CISA and/or other risk management certification.
  • Direct experience in the audit of the Wholesale segment of a large bank.
  • Understanding of operational, compliance and credit risk management processes through direct or indirect credit management experience.
