The T&PS Product Strategy Lead helps SunTrust maintain appropriate competitive positioning for its cash management solution suite and helps develop innovative and integrated product strategies to meet the evolving needs of the bank’s target clients.  The Product Strategy Lead will guide the broader T&PS team’s understanding of current trends impacting client need, product capabilities and opportunities to help maximize profitability and growth.  The lead will lead critical events and forums, including annual product planning, the client advisory council and the teammate advisory forum.  The Product Strategy Lead will maintain a view of the competitive and broader industry landscape to assist in key solution offering decisions—for example, helping to determine market entry or exit/sunset, and "build vs. acquire."

Responsibilities and Primary Activities:


Support development and assist in the effective implementation, and ongoing refresh, of strategy for the core treasury and digital solution suite—balancing innovation, reliability and efficiency to meet client needs.  Maintain T&PS product roadmap.  Lead annual product planning efforts.

Conduct/manage internal and external research (e.g., surveys, market research, statistical analysis, focus groups) to inform product strategy.   Includes responsibility for T&PS Client Advisory Council(s) and internal T&PS Advisory Group approach and engagement strategy.

Serve as an internal and external expert for treasury product trends, including broader financial services and fintech industry landscape.  Represent SunTrust at designated conferences, speaking engagements, and other industry events. 

Maintain strong relationships and effective operational partnerships with internal, LOB, and enterprise functional partners; and measure success on an ongoing basis. 

Assist T&PS leadership with other product initiatives as needed.


Self-directed and strong ability to prioritize effectively, with good judgment as to when leadership input is necessary.  Able to self-monitor progress against objectives, and proactively keep leadership apprised of plans, key issues, coordination required, etc.  Able to anticipate and autonomously troubleshoot potential problems that may occur during the life of a project.  Able to create, manage, and meet all schedules.

Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously.  Ability to plan and organize accordingly in a fast-paced environment, while ensuring deadlines are met in a timely and high-quality manner. 

 Proven ability to build strong business relationships, and maintain credibility as position is responsible for assisting with the effective operations and preparedness of peers, teammates, and leaders.  Role has a strategic impact across T&PS with high visibility.



Minimum Requirements:

10 years of experience developing, applying and/or executing product strategy 

7 years project management experience

4 years of experience in product deployment and/or go-to-market functions

Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge of identifying, designing and implementing product solutions

Knowledge of the application of product solutions to generate successful business performance results

Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills

Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint) with the ability to link operations, risks, and financial data to evaluate needs, impact, ROI, etc.

Demonstrated leadership skills, professionalism, and the ability to engage others

Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work cross-functionally; able to collaborate effectively inside department and across the organization

Highly structured; excellent organizational skills

Ability to coordinate and interact with all levels of management

Demonstrated creativity and analytical ability

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to proactively identify risks and implications of business strategy and activities


Preferred Requirements:

CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) designation

Masters of Business Administration

10+ years of experience in product management, strategy development or related experience

Experience in banking, financial services, treasury and/or cash management or sales industries

Extensive experience in treasury and/or cash management products strongly preferred

Experience in change management/change readiness

Experience managing vendor/third party contracts

Experience in demand management processes and technologies (e.g., WorkFront)

Experience in sales team enablement
