Directs the development, maintenance, and mobilization of the project framework used by BankCard Operations with the objective of reaching process consistency and effective management practices. Responsible for supporting the project management needs of a business unit.
Has an understanding of the business unit and the operating systems that support them. Accomplishes project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities. Serves as the project expert defining and executing projects regarding various business initiatives. May prepare business cases including financials and success factors for proposed operating, process and/or product changes. May conduct pilot tests; completes post-audit of business case after implementation is complete. May negotiate with third parties, interacts with and influences senior management. May manage or provide guidance to other team members.
Responsible for setting project priorities and performance. Establish goals and strategies; monitors the attainment of same. Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and/or service standards. Influence and gain buy-in on project objectives.
Determine, rationalize, resolve, and track risks and problems that may arise during all project phases.
Advise and engage business partners on key matters of project risk and performance.
Build/maintain a continuous improvement culture by owning and resolving problems; determining system and process improvements; building and sustaining a robust change management process.
Manage teammates; identify development opportunities and coach performance toward expected outcomes through direct observation. This includes training, meeting talent management and successor planning objectives.
Maintain joint partnership commitments and analyze opportunities for improving communications; sustain positive relationships with teammates and management.
Recognized as an expert corporate consultant in multiple disciplines. Demonstrated ability to lead and coach others. Expert knowledge of the business unit and related industry. Experience on project teams. Experience managing a segment of the project work. Demonstrated ability to achieve desired results. Excels in problem-solving, partnership, communications, persuasion, and negotiation.
BankCard background strongly preferred. Supervisory/Management experience. Operations background is a plus. Strong project management background. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work related experience. 10 years of banking operations or technology operations experience. 5 years of management and leadership experience. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business situations. Strong collaboration, persuasion, negotiating and relationship building skills. Demonstrated ability to create and execute action plans. Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to clients, and/or executive management. Proven ability to motivate employees and client groups to take desired action. Third Party management experience. This includes knowledge of regulatory and compliance related practices, system application procedures and processes, human and other resource management. Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client (internal/external) servicing; this includes direct client contact. Problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to weigh client delivery goals against business risk; assess impacts and mitigate risk. Ability to set, meet and influence decisions and achieve goals; able to manage multiple priorities. Able to translate strategy into action; works effectively in ambiguous situations. Coaching and mentoring skills, diplomacy, conflict resolution, negotiating, and presentation skills. Organizational and computer skills to include Microsoft Office. 15 years bank or card operations to include system, process, project and human resource management, regulatory and compliance related practices.
