We’re looking for a User Experience Research Manager to join our design team. We believe that immersing ourselves in the user’s world is the best way to uncover the right problems for technology to solve. In this role, you will lead research strategy and study design for the Enterprise Client Experience Design team. Your role will be both to help plan, conduct, and analyze user experience research, as well as to supervise, mentor, and direct more junior researchers on the team. You will partner closely with designers, product managers, engineers, and the rest of the team to build amazing mobile and web experiences. Playing a meaningful role in our product development process, you'll drive answers to critical questions, build insight at scale for our clients and help drive new concepts. This role reports to the Director of User Experience Research.
•Serve as the senior liaison for Research to a particular Line of Business and its associated Product teams. Oversee and manage all research efforts rolling up to that Line of Business.
•Evangelize and promote user research to senior leaders in the dedicated Line of Business. Educated leadership on the value of research, its best practices, and how to be critical consumers of user research.
•Work with fellow researchers, Product teams, and other partners to devise sound research strategies, timelines, and goals for a dedicated Line of Business. Provide ongoing management of these efforts.
•Partner with the Research Director to set the standards for research strategy, methods, and reporting.
•Assist Research Director in managing research vendor relationships. Advise the Research Director on best tools, vendor partners, and practices to achieve team goals. Continually monitor for opportunities to improve user experience research.
•Design, conduct, analyze, and report research as needed at an expert level. Generate advanced insights that influence product strategy, feature design, and prioritization.
•Ensure all research performed for the dedicated Line of Business is executed and delivered at the highest level of quality, clarity, and completeness.
•Manage and mentor more junior researchers on work quality, approaches, and presentation.
•Possible occasional travel ( < 15%).
•6+ years experience in applied product/design research
•BA/BS degree in Psychology, HCI, Social Science, etc.
•Advanced (MS or PhD) degree in relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
•Expert command over a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods.
•Expertise in study design principles (e.g. sampling, power, assignment, experimental control, etc.)
•Expertise in analyzing, synthesizing and delivering/presenting research.
•Proven experience representing and evangelizing user research to business partners, especially senior leaders.
•Proven experience managing an active portfolio of multiple research studies and other researchers.
•Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
•Self-motivated, can work independently as well as in groups.
•MS/PhD in UX, HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Sociology, or related research field.
•Particular familiarity with designing and running heuristic evaluations, usability studies, cognitive walk-throughs, contextual inquiries, card sorts / tree tests, A/B testing, in-depth interviews, and focus groups.
•Strong background in descriptive and basic inferential statistics.
•Proficiency with a stats package or analysis platform (preferably SPSS, R, or Python)
•Experience using remote usability platforms such as UserZoom, UserTesting.com or others.
•Experience working on fast-paced research projects and bringing products to market.
•Knowledge of behavioral economics a plus.
