Focuses on application and system architecture elements enterprise-wide. Participates in the development enterprise architecture standards. Translates business requirements into specific system, application or process designs in the context of highly complex projects involving multiple systems/applications. Focuses on applications specific to the Capital Markets technology platform. Applies advanced knowledge of the business and IT architecture principles to identify and evaluate alternatives solutions. May have specific focus and expertise on a particular application, type of application, set of systems, or a business. Leads the selection of methodologies, tools, and components of total IT solutions. Focuses on complex architectural strategy and direction of multiple and diverse application /data/network disciplines on a variety of multi-platform systems. Typically leads moderately complex projects and participates in larger, more complex initiatives. Solves complex technical and operational problems. Acts as a resource for teammates with less experience. May have people management responsibilities for a small team.  

The SunTrust Enterprise Architecture is responsible to develop and maintain a holistic enterprise architecture to guide an intentional evolution of SunTrust’s capabilities and technology landscape over time as needed to achieve business objectives. The goal for the Enterprise Architect is to help SunTrust to achieve technology landscape that is:
OPEN: able to integrate products and services in innovative ways to deliver them to SunTrust our clients
SIMPLE: promotes technology re-use, minimize support costs, and to be as efficient as possible to minimize vendor spend
FLEXIBLE: allows for rapid changes and innovation from technology delivery teams
RESILIENT: minimize disruption and SunTrust client and teammate outages

Partnering segment/function CTO and technology delivery team, the Enterprise Architect identifies needed business capabilities, opportunities to reduce complexity in the current environment, designs the desired target state, outlines transition plans to enable a thoughtful evolution to the target and steers execution using well-defined governance.

The role of Enterprise Architect for Commercial Business Banking (CBB) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) will focus on:
Leads, prioritizes and develops the overall enterprise architecture discipline for CBB and CRE
Manage the current and future state architecture
Develop CBB/CRE cloud transition roadmap and support the execution to the target state

Key Responsibilities:
Defines technology strategies for current and future state with capability roadmaps to help determine impact and “what if” scenarios to drive the direction of strategic investments
Remain aware of current business climates, initiatives, and industry disruptive forces, but also of forthcoming advances and plans across the enterprise, ensuring these can be incorporated into the Enterprise Architecture where appropriate
Works with Enterprise Architecture leadership to define a common language, approach and understanding to help convey and develop architectural artifacts.
Perform capability assessments to build efficiencies across enterprise while also ensuring architecture continuous availability
Provide oversight for development teams to ensure adherence to policies, guidelines, and standards while also fostering an innovative environment.

Minimum Requirements: 

•Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in development with a focus on architecture or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.  
•In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices. 
•Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function. 
•Ability to plan and manage projects. 
•Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices. 
•Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. 
•Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.   

Preferred Skills:
•10+ years of experience in development and execution of enterprise level solutions strategies and business plans to drive business outcomes.
•Master’s degree or MBA and 15 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
•Banking or financial services experience.
•Understanding of the Commercial & Business Banking and Commercial Real Estate domain: Commercial Lending Products, Sales Processes, Pricing Methodologies, Risk Management, Commercial Lending Origination (Underwriting & Closing) and Commercial Loan Servicing as well as Legal Document Preparation
•Working experience with, nCino Loan Origination System, Moody’s, AFS, LoanIQ
•Ability to model the organizational strategies (current and future states) with 10+ years of experience in development and execution of enterprise level solutions strategies and business plans to drive business outcomes.
•Ability to model the organizational strategies (current and future states) with capability roadmaps or processes competitive strategies related to the business and IT function.
