SunTrust Robinson Humphrey is looking for Equity Research Associates to join our expanding Biotechnology team in our New York office. The associate will play an integral role in the due-diligence and writing of proprietary research as a team member of the Senior Analyst's research franchise— with a focus on oncology and gene editing.  The associate will have significant interaction with biotech management teams, clinical and scientific thought leaders, buy-side clients and SunTrust’s sales and trading teams.



  • Support the senior biotech equity analysts, and work closely with the biotech team
  • Analyze industry macro trends and company financials under the direction of the senior analyst
  • Construct and maintain financial models for individual companies
  • Collect and analyze data related to therapeutic sectors — notably oncology and gene editing
  • Attend both scientific and clinical meetings
  • Write company notes, thought pieces and collaborative pieces – in a timely manner, often with tight deadlines.


Minimum Requirements:

·         BA/BS degree

·         6 years of related work experience

·         Strong knowledge of investment banking, market, industry sector, and/or financial products

·         Mastery of financial and accounting concepts to facilitate the creation or review of in-depth financial models involved in transactions

·         Strong organizational and leadership skills

·         Advanced skills in written and oral communications, and interpersonal relationship management

·         ·Solid analytical and sales skills




Preferred Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or M.D. in the life sciences from a top-tier school
  • Experience in oncology and molecular biology is key
  • 2-4 years of related work experience
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
  • Strong quantitative, financial modeling and Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of equity research, investment banking, and/or financial products is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, manage tight timelines and handle long and demanding days, and be a team player across groups
  • Understanding of or desire to learn about financial modeling and accounting principles
  • Progress towards financial certifications preferred, but not required — e.g. FINRA licenses or started CFA.
