Partner with application development, application support, and other IT infrastructure resources to define measurement frameworks, develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards, and deliver self-service visualization and reporting capabilities that enable improved application performance. Responsible for the analysis of systems architecture, relationships between subsystems and end-to-end system flows to ensure performance. Ensures changes in technical or business systems do not adversely impact application performance. Serves as an advanced technical expert resolving critical and complex application performance issues and identifies and drives optimization changes in the application design to improve customer experience for mission/business critical IT applications. Applies knowledge of application development, performance monitoring, alerting, diagnostic and planning methodologies, with specific expertise in the following primary and secondary tools/technology (e.g., Dynatrace, .NET development, IIS, Java, and DB, Introscope, ITCAM and Visual Performance Manager). Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices. Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions. Mentors less experienced teammates to build technical expertise. May have people management responsibilities.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience in application development or related IT discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Ability to influence others at senior levels to adopt a new perspective. Working knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning properties and principles; working knowledge of performance monitoring tools and system utilities to investigate routine system/subsystem performance problems. Strong experience with performance tuning as it relates to application performance (.NET or Java), APM monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Introscope) and standard Windows based performance monitors (Perfmon); Virtualization Systems Administration and Tuning (LPAR/WPAR, VMWare/KVM, Citrix). Specialized and/or broad functional knowledge. Sound understanding of business and organizational strategies and processes. Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices. Ability to lead complex projects. Sophisticated analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical and business problems.
Preferred Requirements: Master’s degree or MBA and 12 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience with web technologies (e.g. WebSphere, IIS, WebLogic, Apache); network based application performance management experience; LAN/WAN technologies and network protocols; storage performance; Wireshark and/or Splunk. Banking or financial services experience.
