Designs flexible and scalable relational data model solutions. Develops integrated solutions by discerning key aspects of client’s business requirements. Performs project-based data modeling work. Identifies and estimates Data Modeling tasks for Project Managers. Identifies needs for data resources in Projects. Reverse engineers vendor data bases into ERwin for Metadata, Applications and DBA information/documentation. May also have responsibility for designing and maintaining logical and physical data models. Plays a critical role serving as a communication conduit between the internal Bank teammates and the development organization by providing information as to what data is available, where it is and how to access it, along with definitions of what it means. Gathers and analyzes data and business requirements and translates them into a relational data model. Partners with LOBs and other EIS professionals, combining banking objectives with enterprise information and data architecture strategies and principles. Creates the logical data model and the first cut of the physical data model, creates, maintains, and enforces data modeling and naming standards and information and data architecture strategies, provides data definition language (DDL) to the database administrators for implementation into the database management system (DBMS). Typically leads moderately complex projects and participates in larger, more complex initiatives. Solves complex technical and operational problems. Acts as a resource for teammates with less experience. May have people management responsibilities for a small team.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in data warehousing and modeling or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices. Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function. Ability to plan and manage projects. Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.
Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Banking or financial services experience. In-depth knowledge of multiple database environments, such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server and UDB. Experience designing Data Warehouses, using the Inmon methodologies. Experience designing Enterprise data models and with enforcing data modeling and naming standards.
