Function Overview:  The role is responsible for executing the front office trade surveillance program.  The teammate will lead a centralized team covering equity, fixed income, and derivatives businesses who will be responsible for the review and investigation of trading activity.  In addition, the team will provide supervisory support within the Sales, Trading and Research lines of business.  Execution of this role will require an understanding of trading business data and processes, regulatory rules and internal policy, and the ability to work with traders, compliance, management and other internal constituents.

 

Responsibilities:  This teammate will be responsible for managing a team to ensure daily trade surveillance and supervisory responsibilities are performed in conjunction and collaboration with the Series 24 front office principals, as well as, the Compliance department.

 

The manager and the team will utilize systems and tools designed to identify potential issues with our trading activity that may be in conflict with FRB, SEC, FINRA or other regulatory body rules.  This manager is also responsible for performing the surveillance of a specific desk or desks.  The team is responsible for the investigation of circumstances of reported exceptions and/or algorithmic alerts regarding potential violations of regulatory rules or compliance policies and the documentation of results.  The manager will escalate any issues of concern to the relevant parties until such time the issue has been vetted and closed or requires escalation to LOB management and/or compliance.

 

The manager will work with LOB, Compliance and Functional management to determine and monitor KRIs and KPIs.  In addition this candidate will be responsible for staying current with industry best practices, tools and trends and topics.  The manager will be responsible for identifying gaps and weaknesses in the program and develop a remediation plan to address them.

 

The team will also be responsible for assisting supervisory principals in the performance of supervisory activities.  Responsibilities include assisting in the review of written communications, blotters, and personal trades.  Will also assist with regulatory exams and audit remediation regarding supervisory activities.
Qualifications

Qualifications:  At least 10 years of financial markets experience.  Strong understanding of SEC and FINRA regulations regarding trading activity and public/private restrictions; previous regulator or institutional broker dealer compliance experience preferred.  Familiarity with trade surveillance software; experience with Nice Actimize beneficial.  Series 7, 63, and 24 required.
