Review and evaluate credit applications, and make lending decisions for standard, less complex consumer credit applications with minimal exceptions in compliance with STI policies and procedures and federal regulations. Determines the documents needed to ensure the loan meets compliance expectations. Works in partnership with other lending center staff to complete the loan process and resolve problems.
Minimum Requirements: High School degree or equivalent. Less than 1 year underwriting experience. Knowledge of consumer lending products, loan documentation and/or credit policy. Limited underwriting experience. Demonstrate ability to use sound judgment; strong communication, analytical, problem solving, communication and computer skills. Satisfies regulatory requirements for holding the positions, including determined by SunTrust to meet the qualification standards imposed by the Loan Originator Compensation rule of the Truth in Lending Act.
Preferred Requirements: College degree in finance, accounting or business. 1 year underwriting experience; in-depth knowledge of federal laws and regulations applicable to consumer lending; and sales and negotiation skills.
